Welcome to the LIT Lab!

Mission Statement

Our mission is to empower children—both with and without learning disabilities—who face challenges with reading and writing by developing and implementing effective, evidence-based interventions. We aim to support educators in fostering literacy proficiency through integrated, research-driven instructional practices.

About Us

The Literacy Matters: Reading and Writing Intervention Lab, led by Dr. Pamela Shanahan Bazis and supported by UNL students, is dedicated to advancing research on effective instruction and intervention for school-aged children struggling with lexical literacy skills. Our focus is on understanding and addressing the challenges students face in mastering the foundational literacy skills necessary for proficient reading and writing. The ultimate goal of our work is to develop and implement evidence-based interventions that enhance educator self-efficacy, empowering them to deliver effective literacy instruction to students with diverse learning needs.
